ROLES ON PROJECT

Rokurokubi is a game that is a mix of stealth and beat ’em up. This game was created during a class on game design with a small team of fellow students game designers.
For this project I was mainly in charge of level design but I’ve also created all the 2D environmental assets. As it was the first time I made pixel art, I’ve learned plenty of interesting things about it, among others that I really liked doing it.
I was also in charge of de sound design. Again, this was the first time I did sound design for a game and it was an enriching experience that I really enjoyed.
Being at the same time a level designer, level artist and sound designer helped me to better understand how these disciplines are linked. When we do level design, it’s very important to keep in mind how the level artist will need to represent and make sense of our levels. Also, when doing level design, it is important to think about all the different sounds that will need to be implemented thru the level to help the player better understand what is happening around him. I have to communicate these needs efficiently to the sound designer. This project helped me a lot to understand how to handle these links, and thus, was a greatly enriching experience.
